【商用英文】超實用!教你如何專業報告英文圖表中的數字與趨勢!

在各種的職場會議當中,

談到預算與籌劃等專案需要處理圖表上數字和情勢走向時,

常常不知道該怎麼正確的使用英文去表達,

而這次Engoo老師一起和小編合作整理出超實用句型,

教大家如何順利用英文輕鬆和外國人聊預算!!

第一類:形容增長

skyrocket / soar by 飆漲、暴增

(表示增加的量非常多)

例句

Prices skyrocketed during the war.

物價在戰時飆漲。

※ skyrocket (v.) 猛升、猛漲

註:銷售量、金額甚至是股市大漲的時候,就可以使用

increase / rise to 增加、提升至

例句

Our market share was 10 percent, but because of better sales it has increased to 12 percent.

我們的市占率原先為百分之十,但因為銷售不錯,已經增加至百分之十二。

go up by / to  增長

例句

Last month, sales went up by five percent.

上個月的業績增加了百分之五。

註:業績增長_%時用go up to,業績增長_%時用go up by 

grow by / to 成長

例句

The country’s tourism industry grew by 10 percent this year.

全國觀光業今年成長百分之十。

第二類:形容減少

plunge/plummet/fall (by/to)

暴跌 / 直線下滑 / 下跌至 (皆用於跌幅很大)

例句

Consumer confidence plummeted last quarter.

上一季的消費者信心指數直線下滑。

※  plunge (v.) 暴跌

※  plumment (v.) 急速跌落  

註:常用於某個數量、某個指數大跌

drop (by/to) 下降 (至/達)

(表示跌幅很大)

例句

Air travel dropped after the disaster.

災難後的航空交通量大幅下降。

decrease by / to 減少

例句

The country’s GDP decreased by $ 270 billion.

這個國家的國內生產毛額減少了兩千七百億美元。

註:金額減少、縮減都可以使用這個片語喔!

go down by/to 跌了/跌至

例句

The factory’s output went down by 55,000 units last month because of the strike.

這家公司上個月的生產量因為罷工少了五萬五千件成品。

※  output (n.) 產量

第三類:形容改變的幅度

dramatic/dramatically大幅度的/大幅度地

(表示跌幅非常大)

例句

The price of raw materials has dramatically increased.

原物料的價格大幅度上漲。

※   (v.) raw material (n.) 原料

sharp/sharply 急遽的/急遽地

(表示速度快、幅度大)

例句

1. There has been a sharp decrease in the price of gasoline.

石油價格一直急遽下滑。

2. Sales have increased sharply over the first two quarters.

在春夏兩季中,銷售量急遽的上升。

rapid/rapidly 快速的/快速地

(表示速度快)

例句

The economy is growing rapidly.

經濟正快速地成長。

significant/significantly 顯著的/顯著地

(形容重要的、規模不小)

例句

The workers got a significant raise.

工人獲得大幅度的加薪。

※ raise (n.) 加薪

noticeable/noticeably 明顯的/明顯地

(表示規模不小)

例句

The cost of the product increased noticeably.

產品的成本明顯地提高。

slight/slightly 微幅的/微幅地

(表示規模小)

例句

There has been a slight increase in competition.

競爭有微幅的增加。

註:想表示沒有特別明顯的差異,就用這個詞表示

eventual/eventually 終將(到最後)

例句

I believe our profits will eventually increase.

我相信我們的獲利終將會提。

註:很適合用來作為有力且對未來情形表示樂觀的結尾

gradual/gradually 逐漸的/逐漸地

例句

1. Our financial situation is gradually improving.

我們的財務狀況正逐漸改善。

2. We project a gradual rise in sales in the coming months.

我們認為在接下來幾個月,銷售量會逐漸增加

第四類:形容穩定狀態

remain constant 持平

例句

Our profits have remained constant compared to last year.

我們的獲利和去年相比是持平的。

steady/steadily 穩定的/穩定地

例句

There has been a steady increase in the cost of living.

生活費用持續穩定地變高。

※  cost of living (n.) 生活費用 

level off 回穩

例句

Prices have leveled off. They are no longer increasing.

價格回穩,沒有持續上漲。

註:這個片語常用來表示先前變動的狀況現在已經穩定下來了!!

stabilize 穩定

例句

Sales have decreased over the past year, but now the situation has stabilized.

去年的業績呈現下滑狀態,但如今情況已經穩定了。

註:這個片語常用來表示先前變動的狀況現在已經穩定下來了!!

Frank:I know you all are hoping for increase in your departmental budgets. But, now I would like Andy to outline our general financial situation.

法蘭克:我知道各位都希望能增加各部門的預算,但現在我想請安迪先概略說明一下我們整體的財務狀況。

Andy: Generally, we’re in pretty good shape. Thanks largely to a sharp increase in sales during the last two quarters. However, there have been some noticeable increases in our expenses. For example, our taxes have increased by six percent over last year.

安迪:整體來看,我們的財務狀況相當好。這主要是拜前兩季急遽提升的業績所賜。但是我們的花費也有一些明顯的增加。舉例來說,我們的稅金在去年就增加了百分之六
