sleep remedy 助眠偏方
remedy是指療法、辦法。
睡眠是困擾著許多人的難題，
世界各地的失眠人口都有著自己獨門的sleep remedy，
像是冥想（meditation）、做瑜伽（yoga）、白天多曬太陽等等。

Slow music is a useful sleep remedy that can help you improve sleep.
舒緩的音樂是能幫助你改善睡眠的辦法。

count sheep 數羊
說到sleep remedies，你會率先想到什麼？
應該在許多影視作品裡你也曾看過，
失眠的主角輾轉難眠，於是開始數起：
一隻羊、兩隻羊、三隻羊⋯⋯
並且心中要想著一隻又一隻的羊跳過柵欄，
這是一種心理暗示的放鬆手段。
從字面翻譯來看，你就能知道count sheep的意思是數羊。

在我們的國家，我們視數羊為一種助眠偏方。

He had trouble falling asleep at night so she recommended him to count sheep.

drift off的意思是逐漸入睡，
有時候drift off後面還會加上to sleep，
但基本上drift off和drift off to sleep意思是一樣的。

It wasn't until dawn that he finally drifted off to sleep.
一直到天亮他才逐漸睡著。

sound asleep 睡很熟的
sound asleep有時候會讓人誤會其詞性，
sound在這裡是副詞(adv. )，意思是酣睡地；
asleep則是形容詞(adj.)，意思是睡著的。
也就是說，sound asleep前面還需要動詞，
像是be sound asleep、fall sound asleep。
【例句】
She has wakened you earlier but you were sound asleep.
她早一點的時候有叫過你，但你睡很熟。
【例句】
When he got into the private room, he found there was a sound asleep girl.
當他走進私人包廂，他發現裡面有個熟睡的女孩。

wide awake 完全清醒
上班日的早晨，醒來還像沒醒來，那就像半夢半醒（drowsy）；
但假日的早晨，還不要上班的時間，你就醒來，
還超級清醒，一點睡意也沒有，那就可以叫做wide awake。
wide awake和sound asleeep構造一樣，
是由副詞(wide)和形容詞(awake)組合而成的慣用搭配，
前面還是要一個動詞。
但不一樣的是，awake雖然在這裡當成形容詞「清醒的」，
awake還能當作動詞，是「使清醒、領悟」之意，
而asleep僅有形容詞，意思也僅有「睡著的」。
【例句】
It was 4 a.m. in the morning, but I was wide awake.
現在時間是凌晨四點，但我超級清醒。
【例句】
My dream can seem so real that I almost believed myself to be wide awake.
我的夢境是如此真實，以至於我幾乎要相信自己是醒著的。

dead to the world 超級熟睡、睡死
中文裡面，我們會說一個人超級熟睡叫「睡死了」，
而在英文，就會使用“dead to the world”。

He didn’t answer the phone. I think he must be dead to the world.
他沒接電話，我想他一定睡死了。
【例句】
We had supper and it didn’t take long for us to be dead to the world.
我們吃了飯，然後很快就睡死過去了。

turn in 上床睡覺
turn in的意思有「上交（作業）」，
也有「上傳睡覺」之意，你可以想成go to bed的意思。

I’m really exhausted today so I'll turn in early tonight.
我今天真的超累，所以我今晚會早點睡。

She seldom turns in at about midnight.
她很少午夜時分上床睡覺。

tuck sb in 給某人掖被子
tuck sb in經常發生在父母對待小孩上，
不僅僅單指掖被子，還包含將孩子安頓好睡前的一切。

When I was little, my father would tuck me in and kiss me on my cheek.
