【信件英文】大學開學必備！如何用英文寫信向教授詢問加簽二退、指導專題？內有範本！

開學季最重要事應該就是「加退選」和找「專題指導教授」了吧！
你會不會特別喜歡哪位外籍教授的課，
但不知道怎麼寫信詢問他們呢？
正確且有禮貌的詢問方式可以大大增加你成功的機率！
看完這篇文章，絕對能讓你有所收穫！
情境一：加簽
首先，信件的開頭介紹完自己後（姓名、科系），即可單刀直入說明你的目的。
因為教授通常都很忙，若是能讓他們越快了解你的目的，那加簽成功的機會就越大。
【實用句型】
1. I’m writing to inquire about the extra spots for your course (course name) (course number) which starts from the ___ to the ____ period on (weekday).
我想要詢問您於（星期幾）第（__）節至第（__）節的課（課名）（課程代碼）有沒有開放加簽呢？2. I was wondering if I could get an authorization code for your course (course name) (course number).
不知道是否能和您索取（課名）（課程代碼）的授權碼呢？3. Unfortunately, I wasn’t lucky enough to get enrolled in your course (course name) in the first round of course selection.
因運氣不佳，我在第一階段選課時沒能選上您的（課名）。
當然，如果能展現你對於這門課的熱情，
或許也能感動教授，增加加簽成功的機率。
【實用句型】
1. I am highly passionate about (theme of the course).
我對於（課程主題）具有十分的熱忱。2. I heard that your lectures on (theme of the course) are clear and detailed, which will definitely help me learn with better efficiency and effectiveness.
聽聞您於（課程主題）的講解非常清楚且詳細，定能助我高效學習，從中獲益良多。3. I'm now taking a minor/double major in the Department of (major).
我現在也有輔修／雙主修（科系）。
情境二：二退
到了學期中，你或許會發現這門課跟你想像的不一樣，
或是你發現你跟不太上，這時與其被當，
在成績單上留下難看的紀錄，
大多數人會選擇二次退選（drop）。
【實用句型】
1. I'm writing to inform you of my decision to drop the course after mid-term.
我想告知您，我決定於期中後二退這門課。2. It seems that I overestimated my time management ability, which I think will make it hard for me to have a satisfying performance in your course.
我的時間管理能力不如我想像的好，因此我在您的課上無法有令人滿意的表現。3. I will still participate in every lecture and exam with maximum effort before mid-term.
在退選之前，我會盡到本分，在每堂課及每次考試付出最大的努力。
情境三：找專題指導教授
到了大三或大四，通常就要開始做專題或實習，
不論選擇哪一種，都要找一個指導教授，
而這時候要怎麼說服讓教授願意帶你就很重要了。
【實用句型】
1. I'm writing to ask if you are taking undergraduate students for the graduation project.
我想詢問您是否願意指導專題生？2. I admire your research, achievement, and expertise in the field of (area).
您於（領域）的研究、成就及專業能力令我景仰。3. Reading your paper “(title of the paper),” I found it matching my passion and values.
拜讀您的論文《（論文標題）》後，我認為您的研究和我所想的研究方向、理念相近。4. Inspired by your work, I’m planning on researching/developing (topic of your project).
受您的研究啟發，我有意研究（專題題目）／開發（專題題目）。5. Please let me know if you wish to discuss this in person.
如果您希望能當面詳談此事，請儘管告知我。
情境四：感謝教授的指導
最後專題順利完成，你也要畢業了，
感謝老師是必須的吧！
而且和教授保持聯繫以及好的關係也是擴增人脈的好方法喔~
