foot the bill就是結帳、買單，除了foot the bill，
我們也可以說have the bill、pay the bill 和 get the bill，這些說法都是買單的意思。
【例句】
To celebrate Tina’s birthday, I will foot the bill.
為了慶祝今天Tina生日，今天我來買單。
get cold feet 突然退縮
get cold feet可不是單純指「腳冷」的意思，當你get cold feet時，
你可能就沒辦法去做接下來要做的事，因為你的腳結凍了，以此來形容一個人臨陣退縮。
【例句】
I wanted to fight for my own rights, but I got cold feet before I walked into the manager’s office.
我想要爭取我的權益，但我進到經理辦公室之前就退縮了。
get your foot in the door 邁出成功的第一步
get your foot in the door，進門的那一步，
用來比喻初次成功進入某個公司或組織的那一步、那一個工作。
【例句】
John accepted the low paid job because it allowed him to get his foot in the door.
John接受了這份低薪的工作，因為這能幫他先邁進此領域的門檻。
put your foot in your mouth 說了不該說的話
put your foot in your mouth可不是把腳放在嘴巴裡這個字面上的意思，
他其實是指一個人講了不該說的話，造成場面非常尷尬的情況。
【例句】
Emma put her foot in her mouth when she mentioned the party in front of Katie. She hadn’t even been invited to the party.
Emma在Katie面前提派對的事真是說錯話了，她根本沒被邀請。
the shoe is on the other foot 此一時、彼一時
the shoe is on the other foot，字面上可能會理解為穿錯腳的鞋子，
不過他實際上是指情勢已經完全反轉，不同於先前的情況了。
【例句】
People made fun of him because he was poor back then. Now, the shoe is on the other foot, he is the first one among his friends to buy a house in Taipei.
大家當時都因為他窮而取笑他，現在情況完全不同了，他是他朋友之中第一個在台北買房的人。
think on your feet 當機立斷、隨機應變
人類的移動是由腳來控制的，因此如果以「用腳來思考」形容一個人，
是指他可以當下快速的做判斷，一邊思考一邊行動。
【例句】
The interviewer asked me the question I have never thought about, so I had to think on my feet.
面試官問了一個我從沒想過的問題，所以我只能當下隨機應變。
have both feet firmly on the ground 非常實際的人
have both feet firmly on the ground 兩隻腳都穩穩地踏在地上，
用來形容一個人非常實際，也可以說這個人"well grounded"（穩扎穩打）。
【例句】
She always has both feet firmly on the ground, and never thinks about things won't happen.
她是一個腳踏實地的人，從不想一些不可能發生的事。
be under someone’s feet 做出惱人的事
be under someone's feet在某人的腳下，
用來形容一個人總是在別人腳下、腳邊晃，讓人覺得很擋路、礙事。
【例句】
Helen was under my feet all day so I couldn't get anything done.
Helen整天都在旁邊礙事，害我沒一件事做好的。
