使役動詞顧名思義就是「使某件事情發生」，
間單來說就是使、讓、叫、令某個人去做某件事情。
分為let, make, get, have, help。
使役動詞最常見的基本用法有兩種，主動及被動：
一、主動 (Active) 用法
主詞(S) + make/have/let/help + 受詞 (O) + 原型動詞 (原V)
主詞(S) + get/help + 受詞 (O) + to V
受詞後面接的原型動詞表示受詞主動做了後面的動作。
【註】
get 後面加不定詞，而help兩種用法皆可
二、被動 (Passive) 用法
主詞(S) + make/have/get + 受詞 (O) + p.p (past participle form)
主詞(S) + let + 受詞 (O) + be p.p
某人「被」要求去做某事時，原型動詞改為「過去分詞」(p.p)
- let：允許、同意讓某人做某件事
意同於allow/ permit sb. to v.
但allow和permit的用法較為正式。
【註】
let的過去式也是let
【例句】
- The mother doesn’t let her children watch horror movies because the kids might feel scared of the horrible scenes.
這個媽媽不允許她的小孩看恐怖片，因為孩子們可能會對片中場景感到害怕。
此句也能改寫成：
The mother doesn’t allow/ permit her children to watch horror movies because the kids might feel scared of the horrible scenes.
2. They are so rude. Why did he let his girlfriend be treated like that?
他們很無禮，為什麼他讓他女友被那樣對待？
2. make：強迫、要求某人去做某件事
意近於forece/ require sb. to v.
【例句】
- The teacher made the students read the articles right now.
也可以寫成：
The teacher required the students to read the articles right now.
老師要求學生們馬上閱讀文章。
2. Since the room is dirty, Kelly makes her boyfriend sweep the floor.
因為房間很髒，Kelly叫她男友掃地。
3. get：說服、鼓勵某人去做某事
意近於persuade/ encourage sb. to v.
【例句】
- Sam got his friend to apply for the license again.
也可以寫成：
Sam persuaded his friend to apply for the license again.
Sam說服他朋友再申請一次執照。
2. Because my air-conditioner was broken, I got it repaired.
因為我的冷氣機壞掉了，我叫人來修理冷氣機。
4. have：交付某人任務去做、給予某人責任去做某件事情
【例句】
- The manager had his secretary order the restaurant and hotel for him.
經理交付他的秘書去幫他訂餐廳和旅館。
2. I had my hair cut and dyed by this hair designer.
我請這位髮型設計師剪、染我的頭髮。
5. help：幫助某人做某件事情
help後面直接加原型動詞或加不定詞皆可。
【例句】
- Before I sleep, I usually read novels. It helps me (to) sleep well.
我經常入睡前閱讀小說，這樣做可以幫助我入睡。
