日常生活中，同一件事情可以有好多種說法，可以粗略地說明，也能詳細闡述，每個人看事情的角度也不一樣。
這次Engoo將介紹幾個「換句話說」的英文表達方式，一起學習怎麼換句話說吧！
namely 即（是）
“namely” 主要用來詳細列舉出前面所提及事物的「完整清單」，或進一步具體說明。也就是說，只要 “namely” 一出現，後面就須列出所有事物。
如果 “namely” 出現在句子中間，前面加逗號，後面不加。相反地，如果 “namely” 作為句子開頭，則後面加逗號。
【例句】
Three main factors contributed to the decline, namely rising costs, weaker demand, and increased competition.
有三個主要因素導致衰退，即成本上升、需求下降以及競爭加劇。
He made one important observation. Namely, that small changes can produce significant long-term effects.
他觀察到一件重要的事，也就是微小的改變可能帶來重大的長期影響。
that is (to say) 也就是說
“that is (to say)” 直翻為「也就是說」，與 “namely” 不一樣的是，不用列舉事物，而是「重新解釋」。
【例句】
The policy applies only to permanent employees; that is (to say), temporary staff are not eligible.
這項政策只是適用於正式員工，也就是說，短期員工不符合資格。
in other words 換句話說
“in other words” 與 “that is to say” 用法一模一樣，都是用於表達「換句話說」。
【例句】
He failed to meet the deadline; in other words, the project will be delayed.
他沒辦法按時完成，意思就是，這個專案會延遲完成。
to put it like this 這樣說吧
“put” 除了「擺、放」之外，還有「表述、表達」的意思。
【例句】
He didn’t just make a mistake; to put it like this, he completely misread the situation.
他不只是犯了一個錯誤，這樣說吧，他完全誤判情況。
to put it differently 換個說法
與 “to put it like this” 一樣，“to put it differently” 意思就是「換個不一樣的說法來說」。
【例句】
The plan is not feasible; to put it differently, it cannot be implemented with the current budget.
這個計劃不可行，換個說法，現在的預算沒有辦法執行這項計劃。
to put it another way 換個方式說
是的，“to put it another way” 又是一樣的意思，表示「換個方式說」。
【例句】
He is not lazy; to put it another way, he simply lacks motivation for this task.
他不是懶惰，換個方式講，他就只是對這個任務缺乏動力。
viz. 即、就是
最後，來介紹一個比較常使用於書面的用法，那就是 “viz.”，這個字是拉丁字 “videlicet” 的縮寫。在用法上，記得在後面加上一個點。
【例句】
The experiment focused on a single variable, viz., temperature.
這項實驗只觀察一個變數，即為「溫度」。
