片語 (Phrase) 是什麼？ 它是詞與詞連在一起具有其他意思的字群。
它就像是語言裡的習慣用法，有些不一定是依照文法，當然很多也不能看字面上的意思直接判讀。
例如，「make me !」 文法上來看只有動詞和受詞卻沒有主詞；字面上來看的意思是「做我自己」
但正確答案是「咬我啊 !」 通常是兩人在發生衝突或吵架時會說的話，就像是「有本事就衝著我來啊 !」的意思。
片語的種類很多，有名詞片語、形容詞片語、動詞片語、不定詞片語、介系詞片語等等，而上面的「make me !」就是動詞片語的一種。
這些日常生活中經常使用到的詞彙，要從哪裡開始下手呢？小編決定今天先來跟大家介紹與「時間」有關的片語！
Day in and day out = 每天不停地 / 日復一日
【例句】
The farmer is busy working day in and day out.
這位農夫每天不停地耕田。
Around the clock = 不眠不休 / 24小時
【例句】
Emily works around the clock when she takes over a big project.
當艾米莉接下一個重大的企劃時，她會不眠不休的工作。
The hotel's service is great, there is always someone available to help you around the clock.
這個飯店的服務棒極了，如果你有需要他們都有24小時的服務人員。
Take one's time = 慢慢來
【例句】
Take your time, we are not in a rush.
你慢慢來，我們不急。
【補充】
如果要請某人加快速度，大部分都會說 do not take your own sweet time. （警告某人時間沒有那麼多讓他慢慢來。）
Behind the times = 思想古板的
【例句】
It's a shame that his parents don't understand it from his point of view, they're really behind the times.
很可惜他父母思想還是很古板，沒辦法以他的角度去看待事情。
Behind time = 遲到 / 沒有在規定的期限或時間之內
【例句】
The train is 30 minutes behind time.
這班火車誤點30分鐘了。
I am already behind time so I can't help you now.
我已經遲到了所以我現在不能幫你。
*注意不要把 behind the times 和 behind time 搞混了
From time to time = 偶爾 / 有時候
【例句】
I would let myself eat fast food from time to time when I am not in the mood for being responsible for my own health.
當我不想為自己的健康責任時，我偶爾會吃速食。

也可以用 once in awhile
Take time out = 抽空
【例句】
Parents need to take time out to educate their children about the birds and the bees, especially when the school doesn't.
父母應該要抽空教孩子有關性教育，尤其是如果學校沒有負責這一塊。

Take some time out = 抽空
Take more time out = 抽出更多時間
One's days are numbered = 某人的日子不多了
【例句】
Grandpa knows his days are numbered due to old age, so he tries to spend time with his family.
爺爺知道自己因為年齡大了日子不多了，所以他盡量花時間和家人相處。

numbered 有著編號的意思 / 有限的
Better late than never = 晚一些總比沒有好
【例句】
I'm so sorry for my delayed wishes but better late than never.
我為我晚來的祝福感到抱歉，但晚一些總比沒有好。
Just in time / In the nick of time = 準時 / 在關鍵時刻
【例句】
She thought her husband was going to miss the birth of their first baby, but he arrived just in time.
她以為她的老公會錯過他們第一胎的生育，但他準時趕到了。
Call it a day / night = 先停止手邊的事 / 活動，隔天再繼續
【例句】
You've worked really hard on this case, I think it's time to call it a night. I'll see you tomorrow.
你為這個案件付出了很多，今晚就先到這裡，明天在繼續。

A month of Sundays = 很久一段時間
【例句】
It has been a month of Sundays since I last went to the movies.
我上一次去看電影是很久以前的事了。
Dwell on the past = 對過去念念不忘 / 放不下過去
【例句】
Stop dwelling on the past and move on!
不要再對過去念念不忘了，繼續向前看吧！
Do time = 服徒刑
【例句】
He already did his time so stop judging him.
他已經受到他該有的處罰了, 所以不要再用異樣的眼光看他。

也可以用 serve time
Eleventh hour = 最後一刻 / 一秒
【例句】
The water bomber arrived at the eleventh hour, just in time to prevent the forest fire from engulfing the town.
多虧滅火飛機最後一刻的到來，防止了這場森林火災吞沒小鎮。
