【商用英文】"I'll think about it" 其實是婉轉拒絕？職場、商業必會的8個「考慮一下」英文說法

在職場或商場上，果決的能力固然非常重要，
但有時候謹言慎行、再三考量反而是更適合的作法。
這次Engoo就來和大家分享「考慮」的不同英文說法。
I’ll think about it. 我再考慮看看。
“I’ll think about it” 算是最基本、最常見的說法之一，
不只在職場、商務之類的正式場合可以用，
日常生活中也會很常聽到喔。
不過，當你聽到這句話時，很大機率代表對方想拒絕你喔！
就好像買東西時，店員介紹完商品後，你覺得並不急著買，
所以可能會說：「我再看一下」或「我等等再來」，
但通常就是直接走人，也不會真的再回去了。
所以，當你不想當場拒絕對方時，
也可以用 “I’ll think about it” 來回應。
【例句】
Joan: Would you like to come to the seminar this Saturday? It's not mandatory, but I think it'll help you learn a lot.
你想參加這週六的研討會嗎？不是強制參加，但我覺得你在那邊可以學到很多。
Noah: I might be busy that day, but I'll think about it.
我那天可能會很忙，但我會考慮看看。
I’ll think it over. 我會好好考慮。
“Over” 帶有「非常仔細地」、「一次又一次地」的含意，
所以 “I’ll think it over” 就是指「我會再三仔細考慮」，
語氣就和第一句的 “I’ll think about it” 不同，
表達的是你真的會仔細考慮對方的提案。
【例句】
1. I would like to think it over, so I'll call you back tomorrow morning.
我想要再三仔細考慮考慮，明天早上再打給你。
2. Please think over what I said.
請仔細思考我說的話。
這個說法其實還有一個更口語的表達方式，
就是 “mull it over”。
【例句】
1. Have you decided yet?
你決定好了嗎？
2. No, I'm still mulling it over.
還沒，我還在思考。
I’ll think it through 我會仔細考慮。
“Through” 帶有「仔細地」、「全面地」的意思，
所以 “I’ll think it through” 是指仔細地考慮所有可能性，
包含優缺點、機會成本等等。
【例句】
1. I'll have to think it through before making a decision.
做決定前我要仔細考慮清楚。
2. Let's think through all the pros and cons.
我們來仔細地思考所有優缺點。
I’ll consider it. 我會考慮一下。
“Consider” 應該算是大家最熟悉的「考慮」的說法，
也是指你會認真地考慮對方的提議。
更正式的用法為 “I’ll take it into consideration”。
【例句】
1. We will consider your offer internally.
我們內部會再好好考慮您的提議。
2. Jane: I think we should start shifting everything online to meet the customers' needs.
我覺得我們應該要開始把所有東西都搬到網路上，來滿足顧客的需求。
Mike: You may be right. I'll take that into consideration.
也許妳是對的。我會好好考慮這個提案。
I’ll look into it. 我會再仔細思考。
“Look into sth.” 是指「仔細調查」，
所以 “I’ll look into it” 是指我會好好分析所有面向（優缺點等等），
也就是「好好思考」。
【例句】
1. Can I get back to you tomorrow afternoon? I would like to look into it before making a decision.
我可以明天下午再回覆您嗎？做決定之前，我希望可以再仔細考慮清楚。
2. I heard there's an opening in the accounting department. You should look into it.
我聽說會計部門有個缺。我覺得你可以考慮看看。
Let me sleep on it. 讓我再好好想想。
“Sleep on it” 字面上意思是「睡在上面」，
可以想成整晚睡覺時都在思考，也就是「仔細考慮」的意思。
除了在商務上，這個說法也可以用在日常生活中，
像是當你朋友問你要不要出國玩時，
一定是需要時間考慮排假、花費等等，
“I’ll sleep on it” 就會有「需要一段時間考慮後再回覆你」的涵義。
【例句】
1. I'll sleep on it and get back to you tomorrow.
我會好好考慮，明天再和你說我的答覆。
2. Let me sleep on it for a few days.
給我幾天好好想想。
I’ll give it some thought. 我會好好考慮。
這句話其實就是 “I’ll think about it” 的意思，
一樣是用在當下沒辦法，或不想給出答覆的時候，
但是語氣比較正式，也就沒有「拒絕」的意味，
就好像把「我再想想」說成「我回去和家人討論看看再過來」，
聽起來就是你在認真考慮，而非在婉拒人家而已。
【例句】
1. I’ll give it some thought. I’ll let you know by the end of the day.
我會再仔細考慮。今天前會給你答覆。
2. I want you to give it some thought. I don’t want you to miss this great opportunity.
希望你可以好好考慮。我不想要你錯失良機。
It’s under review. 正在審核中。
“Under” 除了表示位置，也可以用來指「（進行中的）狀態」，
而 “review” 除了當複習，也可以指「審查」，
所以 “under review” 就是「正在審核中」。
當對方和你說這句話時，就有可能代表當下他也無權決定，
要等高層討論完後才能給你答覆。
【例句】
1. Tom: I was wondering if I could get some updates on my application.
我想詢問一下我的申請進度。
Bill: It's still under review. We will get back to you once the decision is made.
還在審核中。做出決定後我們會馬上通知您。
2. Your proposal is currently under review.
您的提案現正接受審核中。
