除了常用的" I'm 20 years old.” 還有什麼表示年齡的用法?

先來看看各年齡階段的人應該如何稱呼吧!

Infant/Baby：0~2歲

Toddler/Pre-schooler：3~5歲

Child：6~8歲

Pre-teenager：9~12歲

Teenager：13~18歲

Adolescents：16~18歲

Adult：18~55歲

Middleage：45~55歲

Elderly/Senior Citizens：55歲以上

接下來，一起來學學英文年齡表示法和相關用語吧!

1.

in one’s early twenties.(20~23歲) 20出頭

in one’s mid-twenties(24,25歲) 20多歲

in one’s late twenties(26~29歲) 20多歲末

用來表示一個大概的年齡區間，

若要表示其他年齡段則以其他數字替代twenties，

如：teens/thirties/forties…。

2. sb just/recently turned six. 剛滿6歲

3. a man aged 65 一位65歲的男人

名詞後加上aged +數字，表示"~歲的"，用來形容前面的名詞。

4. Citizens above twenty years of age are eligible.

常用在公文裡，表示20歲以上公民都符合資格的意思。

5. sb be over the hill

和"走下坡"有相似的涵義，表示已經不是年輕力壯的巔峰期，

已經到了一定年齡，也表示年過四十的意思。

【例句】

He is forty right now, but I don’t think he is over the hill.

He still goes jogging every morning, rain or shine.

他已經四十歲了，但是我想他完全沒走下坡。他仍是每天去慢跑，不論晴雨。

6. sb be no spring chicken.

spring chicken是指未長成的小雞，

一般來說no spring chicken是用在負面的意涵，

表示某人都已經不是小孩了卻仍有孩子氣的行為。

Hey, you are no spring chicken. Why are you still acting like that?

嘿，你都年紀不小了。為什麼還這樣做?

7. sb be wise beyond one’s years.

Emma is wise beyond her years. That’s why people ask her for help.

Emma比她的實際年齡還要成熟。這也是為什麼大家都找她幫忙。

8. sb have a senior moment

表示像老人一樣健忘的情況。

Mom had a senior moment last week when she forgot where

she put the remote controller that was in her hands minutes ago.

媽媽上週有點健忘，她忘記數分鐘前還拿在手上的遙控器放在哪裡了。

9. sb live to a ripe old age

a ripe old age指的是高壽、長壽，因此live to a ripe old age表示某人很長壽，

也可以用at a ripe old age of~表示高齡~歲。

My grandma died at a ripe old age of 95, when I was 20.

我奶奶過世於高齡95歲， 當時我才20歲。
