【同義字】stand/ tolerate/ put up with都是忍耐，有什麼不一樣？
「忍耐」的英文說法有好多種，

1. endure 忍耐、忍受
常和 cannot 等否定詞連用，
後面可接 to V. 或 Ving，
通常指忍受痛苦、困難、不愉快的事。
【例句】
I cannot endure my boyfriend’s temper.
我不能夠忍耐我男友的脾氣。
【例句】
I couldn’t endure to see her failure since she worked so hard.
我不忍看到她失敗，因為她工作很認真。

Sarah has to endure exercising 30 minutes every day.

(1) 通常指接受某種與自己不一樣的行為、信念，
儘管自己可能不認同。

Amy tolerates that kind of behavior because she thinks it is inevitable.
Amy容許那樣的行為，因為她覺得那是不可避免的。

3. abide 忍受、容忍
常用於否定句或疑問句，
若 can’t abide sth./sb. 是因為厭惡而無法容忍。

Can you abide any loud noise?
你可以忍受巨大的噪音嗎？

4. stand 經得起、忍受

5. undergo 經歷、經受、忍受
通常經歷的事是讓人不開心的，
或是帶有改變、會帶來重大影響的。

You have to undergo the training before you start to work.
你開始工作前必須接受訓練。
6. put up with 容忍、忍受
通常指持續地接受某種不快的情形、體驗。
【例句】
If she can put up with his bad temper, then she might get along well with him.
如果她能忍受他的壞脾氣，那麼她應該能跟他相處得很好。
【例句】
Sammi doesn’t want to put up with her boyfriend’s behavior.
Sammi不想再忍受她男友的行為。
7. withstand 承受住、禁得起
通常指足夠強壯、能夠成功反抗某人事物，並且不被改變。
【例句】
People who want to succeed have to withstand hardships.
想成功的人必須承受苦難。

My love can withstand the test of time.
我的愛人禁得起時間的考驗。
8. bear 承受、忍受
常被用來指承受重量、壓力。
【例句】
Olive has high self-esteem so she can’t bear the humiliation of having to surrender.
Olive自尊心很高，所以她無法忍受投降的恥辱。

I closed my eyes because I couldn’t bear to watch that scene.
