Fewer/ less
【說明】
fewer是用在可數名詞
less是用在不可數名詞
【例句】
Fewer and fewer people join this camp now.
現在越來越少的人參加這個營隊了。
Drink less alcohol will bring benefits to your body.
喝少一點的酒會有益你的健康。
Number/ amount
【說明】
number是用在可數名詞
amount是用在不可數名詞
【例句】
A great number of people are working-out nowadays.
現在越來越多的人有運動的習慣了。
She donates a small amount of money to a charity every month.
她每個月都會固定小額捐款給一家慈善機構。
I/ me/ myself
【說明】
I是主詞
me是受詞
myself是反身代名詞
【例句】
Mary and I will go to Mandy’s wedding.
Mary跟我會去參加Mandy的婚禮。
Please pass me the salt and black pepper.
請遞給我鹽跟黑胡椒。
Don’t worry. I can do it by myself.
不要擔心，我可以自己完成。
【備註】
如果主詞要講別人跟自己，要先放別人的名字，再講I。
i.e./e.g.
【說明】
i.e.的意思是「換句話說」，來自拉丁文的「id est」。
e.g.的意思是「舉例」，來自拉丁文的「exempli gratia」。
【例句】
This hotel will close during the low season, i.e. from September to January.
這家旅館將會在淡季，也就是九月到一月，暫停歇業。
Ken is against this proposal, i.e., this proposal will not be permitted.
Ken反對這個提議，也就是說，這個提議將不會通過。
She likes many different kinds of cheese, e.g. cheddar, camembert, and brie.
她喜歡很多不同種類的起司，像是切達起司、卡芒貝爾起司、布裡起司。
It’s/ its
【說明】
it’s是it is的縮寫，its是「它的」。
【例句】
It is my pleasure to help you overcome this hard time.
能幫助你度過這個難關是我的榮幸。
Ann’s house has its own gym and swimming pool.
Ann的房子有自己的健身房跟游泳池。
主詞單複數動詞變化混淆使用

- One of the best students are Winnie.
Winne是最聰明的學生之一。
- The two most wonderful memories in my life is my wedding and honeymoon.
我生命中最美好的兩個回憶是：我的婚禮跟蜜月旅行。
【正確用法】
- One of the best students is Winnie.
主詞是one，別被students給騙了喔！
- The most wonderful two memories in my life are my wedding and honeymoon.
主詞是the most wonderful two memories，
in my life只是修飾主詞而已，別被騙到了喔！
常見錯誤結構句子
【錯誤示範】
Emily will still play for the tournament on Sunday, in spite of her injury.
Let me finish this assignment first. Then we will go for dinner.
【正確用法】
In spite of her injury, Emily will still play for the tournament on Sunday.
儘管Emily受傷了，她還是會去參加週日的錦標賽。
Let me finish this assignment first, then we will go for dinner.
讓我先完成這個作業，我們就去吃晚餐。
多餘使用逗號
【錯誤示範】
We cannot go to her wedding, because our mom is in the hospital now.
Which do you want, apple juice, or milk?
【正確示範】
We cannot go to her wedding because our mom is in the hospital now.
我們沒辦法參加她的婚禮了，因為我們的媽媽現在正在住院。
Which do you want, apple juice or milk?
蘋果汁跟牛奶，你想喝哪個？
錯誤使用冒號
【錯誤示範】
People move to California for: the nicer weather, the beaches, and the fantastic food.
【正確用法】
People move to California for three simple reasons: the nice weather, the beautiful beaches, and the fantastic food.
人們移居加州的三個簡單理由：良好的天氣、美麗的海灘、好吃的美食。
【備註】
冒號是要用在完整的句子後喔！
連接句子常見的錯誤
【錯誤示範】
I wanted to invite her to dinner, however, I changed my mind after I saw her talking to Steven.
【正確用法】
I wanted to invite her to dinner; however, I changed my mind after I saw her talking to Steven.
I wanted to invite her to dinner. However, I changed my mind after I saw her talking to Steven.
【備註】
however是副詞，並非連接詞，所以在連接兩個句子時，有兩種方法：
- 使用分號（這樣語氣比較強烈）
- 直接用新的一句開始
