1. cold fish
用來形容情緒不會表露出來的人。
【例句】
She is such a cold fish that it’s hard to know what she is thinking about.
她是一個不會將情緒表露出來的人，因此很難知道她在想什麼。
2. to drink like a fish
像魚一樣的喝，表示喝很多，尤其指喝很多酒。
【例句】
He drank like a fish when he was in Germany during Oktoberfest.
他在德國啤酒節時喝非常多酒。
3. big fish
意指非常重要、有權力或是具有影響力的人。
【例句】
My father is a big fish in his company. Every employee respects him a lot.
我爸爸在公司位居要職。每個職員都很尊重他。
4. a big fish in a small pond
字面上是一條大魚在小池塘中，也就是一個小地方或小公司的大人物。
【例句】
Jason became manager at the age of 25 that colleagues all think he is a big fish in a small pond.

5. like a fish out of water
像一隻不在水中的魚，衍伸的意思是在一個不熟悉的環境中感到尷尬、不自在，或是覺得不屬於這裡的一部分。

6. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.

7. packed in like sardines
擠得像罐頭裡的沙丁魚一樣，也就是盡可能將將物品塞滿，或是人努力地擠進去。

因為水果和蔬菜的特賣，那間超市被擠得水泄不通。
8. to have the memory of a goldfish
擁有金魚的記憶，也就是我們所熟知的金魚腦啦！用來形容人們記憶非常的差，很容易忘東忘西。

I have to admit that I have the memory of a goldfish. That’s why I always bring my planner in case I forget anything important.
我必須要承認我是金魚腦。這也是為什麼我總是帶著我的記事本，以免忘掉任何重要的事情。
9. a different kettle of fish
kettle是水壺的意思，不同水壺的魚的意思衍伸為現在提及的事物，跟剛剛是截然不同的。
【例句】
Melody is a sweet and considerate girl while her sister is a completely different kettle of fish.
Melody是一個甜美又體貼的女孩，然而她的姊姊是完全不一樣的人。
10.bigger fish to fry
字面上是還有更大的魚要去炸，代表還有更重要的事情要做。

The diplomat has to leave the feast right now; he has got bigger fish to fry.
