【英文文法】什麼！not竟然是肯定句？雙重否定搞得我好混亂阿
英文跟中文一樣都喜歡繞圈圈說話，
不得不 = 一定要，
負負得正，今天小編統整了一些常見雙重否定介紹給大家：
1. There is no N. but V. 沒有不...的
讓我們來看看以下這個句子：
There is no mother but loves her children.
什麼？！沒有媽媽愛她的小孩？
這裡的but其實就是關係代名詞 who not 的意思。
也就是There is no mother who doesn't love her children. 沒有不愛孩子的母親。
讓我們再舉個例子讓大家看看：
There is no one but is afraid of death. (沒有人不害怕死亡。)
這樣大家懂這個用法了嗎？
2. cannot but V. 不得不
cannot help/choose but V.
have nothing to do but V.
以上都指不得不、只好的意思，
指沒有其他選擇了，記得這句要在but的後面接原形動詞。
讓我們一起來看看幾個例子。
[例1] He cannot but borrow money from his parents.
(他不得不跟父母借錢。)
[例2] In order not to make his parents worried, he had nothing to do but tell them a white lie.
(為了不讓父母擔心，他不得不對他們說了善意的謊言。)
3. have no choice/alternative/option but to V. 不得不
跟上面的意思相同，但這裡的句型後面必須加 to V。
[例1] We had no alternative but to take his orders. (除了順從他的命令，我們別無選擇。)
[例2] At this moment, we have no choice but to wait patiently for the final results. (此時此刻，我們只好耐心等待最後的結果。)
4. cannot help/avoid/resist Ving 忍不住
cannot stop oneself from Ving
這些句子後面的動詞都要接ing，
不知道大家有沒有發現這個片語跟第二句cannot help/choose but V.很像喔！
不過cannot help but 不得不跟這裡的 cannot help 忍不住不一樣。
前面的的通常是負面的，已經別無選擇了，
後者也就是這邊介紹的''忍不住"系列的句子，
通常沒有負面的意思。
讓我們來看看以下幾個句子：
[例1] When we saw his new hairdo, we couldn't help bursting into laughter. (我們看到他的新髮型都忍不住笑了出來。)
[例2] She cannot resist recalling her good old days. (她不禁回想過去的美好時光。)
5. never...without Ving 每...必...
never A but B
這就是很標準的雙重否定的樣子，
有never又有without，代表一定會...。
而but為對等連接詞，因此A跟B的詞性必須相同。
[例1] I never watch this movie without crying. (我每看這部電影必哭。)
[例2] It never rains but it pours. (不雨則已，一雨傾盆。)
6. never fail to V. 必定、務必
without fail
從不失敗就代表務必做到，有時是命令語句。
[例1] I never fail to keep my promise. (我必定信守承諾。)
[例2] Never fail to come home before it gets dark. (務必在天黑之前回家。)
7. No...without...
下面剛好有兩個諺語有用到這個句型喔：
[例1] No sweet without sweat. (不經一番寒徹骨，焉得梅花撲鼻香。)
sweat指流汗，不流汗怎麼能收成甜美的果實呢？

[例2] No smoke without fire. (無風不起浪。)
英文用沒有火就不會有煙，而中文則用風浪來形容，事情會發生總有原因的嘛！
