相信這陣子大家都過得相當緊張，全世界的氣氛甚至都相當低迷，
儘管疫情當前，卻還是得過日子啊！很快地又到了畢業季，
今天小編就要介紹大家平常工作常常會聽到的英文片語，
讓你輕鬆掌握工作、贏得主管的心！
1. off the hook
hook是鉤子，沒錯就是虎克船長手上的那個鉤子，
而「off the hook」就代表免於究責或是免於某項東西的責任，任務已完成囉！
【例句】
Alice finished her thesis before the graduation ceremony. She is finally off the hook after the torture for months.
Alice在畢業典禮之前完成他的論文了！她在好幾個月的折磨後終於解脫了！
2. all in a day’s work
直接翻譯是一整天的工作，
但其實衍伸的就是份內的工作哦！可以在表達謙虛時使用。
【例句】
A: Thank you for all the things you have done for the school. You are the best principal ever.
A：謝謝你為學校做的所有事，你是有史以來最棒的校長了！
B: It’s just all in a day’s work. No problem.
B：是我份內該做的，沒什麼。
3. a golden handshake
handshake是握手，這可不是什麼死亡之握！
但雖然是黃金之握，意思卻也不完全是正面的！
它代表員工被解雇時或退休時收到一大筆資遣費或是退休金，
要依照上下文來判斷意思。
【例句】
Because of the deflation, Anna was laid off and forced to move back to her hometown. However, she received a golden handshake which was probably enough for her to use until finding the next job.
因為通貨緊縮，Anna被裁員且被迫回到她的家鄉。然而，她收到了一大筆資遣費，應該還足夠她找到下一份工作。
4. move up in the world
這個英文片語用來表達變得非常成功、不斷進步的意思，
move up 可以想成持續地前進，是不是好記多了呢？
【例句】
It turns out that Timmy moves up in the world after working day and night for years! I am really proud of him.
看起來Timmy在好幾年日以繼夜的工作後事業變得相當成功，我非常替他感到驕傲。
5. be snowed under
snow是雪，但是這跟雪可是一點關係都沒有哦！
用來形容非常忙碌、忙到不可開交，當然也可以想成在雪的下面，
聽起來就很沉甸甸，也就是被工作壓得喘不過氣。
【例句】
Despite the fact that the consultant was snowed under lots of work, she still kept learning something new after work.
儘管這個顧問工作非常忙碌，下班後她仍持續學習新的事物。
6. be sacked
sack作為名詞是袋子、麻袋的意思，但同時也是解僱，
因此當聽到get the sack時，就是被開除了。
get sacked也是一樣的用法，但比較少見。
【例句】
Leo’s father was sacked due to some minor mistakes. Now he has to begin working to lighten his family’s burden.
Leo的爸爸因為一些小犯錯被解雇。現在他必須要開始工作來減輕家裡的負擔。
7. by the sweat of one’s brow
sweat是汗，brow是眉毛，
當汗都流到某人的眉毛時，就代表非常勤奮的工作。
【例句】
If you want to realize the dream, you have to work by the sweat of your brow. No matter how difficult it is, keep going.
如果你想要實現夢想，你必須要非常勤奮地工作。不管有多麼困難，持續前進。
8. learn the ropes
rope在這裡不是繩子的意思哦！
整個片語是學到竅門、非常在行的意思，在商業的世界中相當常見。
【例句】
In order to learn the ropes, Elsa spent lots of time taking notes and asking questions. She hoped to be an expert in her field in the near future.
為了要掌握竅門，Elsa花了許多時間做筆記及問問題。她希望在不遠的未來成為這個領域的專家。
