Do (someone) wrong 錯待

表示不公平對待某人，或是傷害、辜負了對方，被動語態為 “be done wrong”。

【例句】

He did me wrong.

他傷害了我／他錯待了我。

Hype 炒作、熱度

可作動詞與名詞使用。歌詞中出現的 “hype” 為動詞，意思就是大肆炒作，口語中 “not hyped enough” 就是「還不夠受矚目、還不夠受歡迎」的意思。

而名詞的 “hype” 口語上則是指指事物的熱度、關注度。

【例句】

I don’t get the hype of this show.

我不懂這影集到底為什麼這麼紅。

On someone’s radar

在某個人的雷達上，其實就是指「引起注意、受到關注」，或是有在思考的事物，相反則是 “off someone's radar”。

【例句】

She has been on my radar since her first novel came out, but I haven't read any of her books yet. (Cambridge Dictionary)

從她出版第一本小說以來，我就有在關注這位作者，但一直還沒讀過她的任何著作。

Ups and downs 沉浮、波折

有起就有落，經歷過的種種波折，就可以用 “ups and downs” 來形容。

【例句】

人生充滿了波折。

Ride or die 生死之交

形容生死相隨、患難與共的死黨。

【例句】

She’s my ride or die. We’ve been through a lot together.

她是我的生死之交，我們一起經歷了許多事情。

Take someone／something for granted 視人／事物為理所當然

字面上就是把別人或某些事當作理所當然，也進而衍伸出「不去重視、不感激」之意。

【例句】

I do so much for them, but they just take me for granted.

我為他們做這麼多，但他們都認為這是理所當然的。

A shoulder to cry on 傾訴對象、值得依靠的人

直譯是「能讓你靠著哭的肩膀」，其實就是能讓你傾訴的對象，或是值得依靠的人。

【例句】

My friend is always there to offer me a shoulder to cry on.

我朋友總是讓我能有所依靠。
