【易混淆字】長超像的 through、though、thought、tough、thorough 一次分清楚！

就是正確唸出 Through、Thorough、Though、Tough、Thought、Throughout 這幾個超像的字！
學會了發音之後，這次我們就來看看這些字的用法吧！
Through
介系詞｜穿越／透過／從頭到尾
Through 作為介系詞，共有三個用法。
一是「穿越」空間（如隧道、庭院等）：
【例句】
The light shone through the window.
光線穿過窗戶照射進來。
We drove through a tunnel.
我們開車穿越隧道。
二是「藉由、透過」某方式完成某事：
【例句】
You can book tickets through the website.
你可以透過網站來訂票。
三是「從頭到尾」（時間）：
【例句】
We worked through the night.
我們通宵工作。
副詞｜完成、結束
Through 作為副詞指「完成」：
【例句】
Are you through yet?
你完成了嗎？
Thorough
形容詞｜徹底、周到的
Thorough（注意 th 後面有個 o！）指工作做得很「徹底」，
也可以指某人很「仔細、周到」。
【例句】
A thorough cleaning is needed.
需要一次徹底清潔。
She is very thorough in her work.
她工作很細心。
副詞（+ly）｜全面地
只要加上 “-ly” 即成副詞 “thoroughly”（全面地、仔細地），
另外也可以指「非常」（同 “very”）。
【例句】
We have thoroughly inspected the factory but found nothing strange.
我們已經徹底檢查了整間工廠，但並無發現異狀。
I thoroughly enjoyed your show.
我真心喜歡你的表演。
Though
連接詞｜儘管、就算、雖然
作為連接詞， “though” 等同 “although”，
可以放在句中或句首，表示「雖然」、「儘管」。
【例句】
We enjoyed the trip, though the hotel was just okay.
我們很享受這趟旅程，雖然飯店滿普通的。
副詞｜但是、不過
though 放句尾時，可以當副詞表示「不過」，
在網路上常會簡寫成 “tho”。
【例句】
I don’t like his attitude. I’ll help him, though.
我不喜歡他的態度。不過我還是會幫他的。
Tough
形容詞｜困難的／堅韌的／強硬的
Tough 有三個常見的形容詞用法。
一是某事很「困難」、「棘手」：
【例句】
He has a tough job which is physically challenging.
他有一份艱難、耗力的工作。
二是食物、材料「難咬」、「堅硬」：
【例句】
This tough material can stop a small-caliber bullet.
這種堅硬的材料可以擋下小口徑子彈。
The steak is too tough to chew. I can’t finish it.
這牛排硬到根本咬不動！我吃不完。
三是人很「強硬」：
【例句】
He’s a tough negotiator.
他談判時很強硬。
Thought
名詞｜想法、思維
Thought 作為名詞，是指「想法」，是可數名詞，
所以一定要注意單複數的用法！

另外，形容詞 “thought-provoking” 指「發人省思的」。
【例句】
I had a sudden thought.
我突然有個想法。
It’s a thought-provoking movie that reminds us of how powerful nature is.
這部電影讓人深思，提醒著我們大自然的力量有多強大。
動詞｜思考／想／以為
Think（思考、想、以為）過去式和分詞（p.p.）都是 “thought”。
【例句】
I thought he was busy.
我以為他很忙。
Throughout
介系詞｜（空間）遍佈／（時間）始終
最後 “throughout” 是指空間上「遍及」，如「遍及全國」；
也可以指時間上「持續」，如「縱觀歷史」（throughout the history）。
【例句】
The news spread throughout the country.
這則消息傳遍全國各地。（空間）
She remained calm throughout the emergency.
在緊急狀況期間，她依舊保持冷靜。（時間）
The rain lasted throughout the night.
雨下整夜。（我的愛溢出就像雨水）（時間）
這些 th 開頭的字真的長很像！放在一起時，
即便是英文母語者也不一定能第一次就全唸對。
但這些字的意思、用法可說是天差地別，
一定要分得清楚，才不會造成誤解喔！
