1.善用助動詞(would, may, could)

I want a cup of tea.

→I would like a cup of tea.

Can you pass me the salt?

→Could you pass me the salt, please?

I have to borrow your notes for last week.

→May I borrow your notes for last week?

Can you give me a lift?

→I wondered if you could give me a lift.

→I was wondering if you could give me a lift.

→I am wondering if you can give me a lift.

I want you to come to my wedding.

→I am hoping you can come to my wedding.

I think she is not suitable for the job.

→I thought she is not suitable for the job.

這個用法常會跟a bit, around, kind of, a few, quite, slightly, a little一起搭配。

Could you copy me on the e-mail at around 2 p.m.?

The budget is a bit large.

I think the project is hard to launch.

→Don't you think the project is a bit hard to launch?

You need to check the list one more time.

→Shouldn't we check the list one more time?

1.can't 改成unable

I can't finish the task by tomorrow.

→I am unable to finish the task by tomorrow.

(1) Unfortunately,…

Unfortunately, we don't take credit cards.

(2) I am afraid that…

I am afraid that I am unable to have dinner with you tonight.

(3) I am sorry…

I am sorry to inform you that the meeting has been postponed.

No offense, but…

I hear what you're saying, but…

I would love to go out with you, but I have to work.
